BC - the best place on earth

This summer, I had the chance to spend 10 days in Vancouver and Whistler. Being there due to business travel, I took some pictures from Vancouver and Whistler. This place is really mind-blowing and diverse, it is hard to describe this with words.

Totem pole at Stanley Park

Vancouver itself has some very decent locations for every favor, so it is likely that you feel comfortable very soon. I took some pictures of the most famous locations in Vancouver. At least, Stanley Park has to be named, it is a true emerald in the city. Although very crowded from Vancouverites at the beaches, there are very calming places to find that give you an impression the British Columbia rainforest among the coastal mountain will look like.

Stanley Park

When driving up to north Vancouver crossing the Lions Gate bride, the wilderness begins. At once the scenery changes and you feel as you are in distinct nature. Grouse Mountain, the closest ski resort to the city, is located directy above north Vancouver. If you are standing on top, you have a wide view over Vancouver up to Washington where you can spot Mt. Baker on clear days.

Whistler

Heading more north, the next bigger stop is Whistler, the famous mountain ski resort, where some of the Winter Olympic Games in 2010 are taking place. Whistler is on a higher altitude than Vancouver so keep an eye on your skin for not getting a sunburn (I did not, yikes!). For those of you, watching the television series “Men in trees”, wonder where the cirty of Elmo is located. Elmo, Alska is in fact Squamish, British Columbia, Canada.

Looking in retrospective, 10 days are way too little time for this region. I’ll be back.
