BC - the best place on earth

This summer, I had the chance to spend 10 days in Vancouver and Whistler. Being there due to business travel, I took some pictures from Vancouver and Whistler. This place is really mind-blowing and diverse, it is hard to describe this with words.

Totem pole at Stanley Park

Vancouver itself has some very decent locations for every favor, so it is likely that you feel comfortable very soon. I took some pictures of the most famous locations in Vancouver. At least, Stanley Park has to be named, it is a true emerald in the city. Although very crowded from Vancouverites at the beaches, there are very calming places to find that give you an impression the British Columbia rainforest among the coastal mountain will look like.

Stanley Park

When driving up to north Vancouver crossing the Lions Gate bride, the wilderness begins. At once the scenery changes and you feel as you are in distinct nature. Grouse Mountain, the closest ski resort to the city, is located directy above north Vancouver. If you are standing on top, you have a wide view over Vancouver up to Washington where you can spot Mt. Baker on clear days.

Whistler

Heading more north, the next bigger stop is Whistler, the famous mountain ski resort, where some of the Winter Olympic Games in 2010 are taking place. Whistler is on a higher altitude than Vancouver so keep an eye on your skin for not getting a sunburn (I did not, yikes!). For those of you, watching the television series “Men in trees”, wonder where the cirty of Elmo is located. Elmo, Alska is in fact Squamish, British Columbia, Canada.

Looking in retrospective, 10 days are way too little time for this region. I’ll be back.

RDPEdit v.0.0.1.1 released

Today I’ve released a new Software, called RDPEdit. RDPEdit is used to customize .rdp connection files in a more convenient way than a Microsoft tool or a texteditor does. You can have a look and download here:

RDPEdit 0.0.1.1

The current revision is 0.0.1.1, please note that this is work in progress. Right now, RDPEdit only supports connection files up to RDP 5.2, support for the next RDP version (RDP 6.0, used on Vista and Server 2008) is coming soon.

Remote Desktop Connection Offsets

When using RDP Files, you might have encountered that, when editing by hand, you have to specify the widget-offets for not having annoying scrollbars in the RDP window.

Some time ago, I’ve posted the offsets for the standard Windows XP Theme, now here are some new offsets for Windows Vista standard Theme.

Offsets for Windows Vista

  • Width (X-Axis): 16 pixel
  • Height (Y-Axis): 36 pixel

Offsets for Windows XP

  • Width (X-Axis): 8 pixel
  • Height (Y-Axis): 34 pixel

If you have some more offsets (for instance the good old Windows 2k Theme), please let me know, thanks!

Secure Instant Messaging

Today I’ve found a quite nice tool that helps to secure Conversations with various Messenger Products. It’s called SimpLite. At time of writing, you can secure following Instant Messengers:

  • MSN Messenger
  • ICQ / AOL Messenger
  • Jabber / GoogleTalk
  • Yahoo Messenger

enjoy ..

Meteoraklöster in HDR
